Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to common questions about NASA APOD Poster, our automated astronomy content system, and how we work.
NASA APOD Poster is an automated system that fetches NASA's Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD)
and posts it to Facebook pages with AI-generated educational captions. We make space science
accessible to everyone through daily automated posts featuring stunning astronomy images and
engaging descriptions.
No, we are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or officially connected with NASA. We use NASA's
publicly available APOD API to share astronomy content with proper attribution. All images and
original descriptions are credited to NASA and their respective photographers/institutions.
We post automatically every day when NASA releases their Astronomy Picture of the Day. This
typically happens once per day, 365 days a year. Each post includes the astronomy image, an
AI-generated caption, relevant hashtags, and a link to the original NASA source.
NASA images are generally in the public domain and free to use, but individual images may have
specific copyright restrictions as noted by NASA. Our AI-generated captions are our own work.
For personal use, feel free to share our Facebook posts. For commercial use of our captions or
any other questions, please contact us at info@webgrapple.com.
We use advanced AI technology (OpenAI) to analyze NASA's original APOD description and generate
engaging, educational captions. We create two versions: concise captions for quick engagement and
detailed captions for deeper learning. The AI ensures the content is accessible to all audiences
while maintaining scientific accuracy.
We currently post to two Facebook pages: SeleneChatBot and Web Grapple. Each page receives content
tailored to its audience, with SeleneChatBot getting concise, engaging captions and Web Grapple
receiving more detailed, educational descriptions. Both pages feature the same stunning astronomy images.
NASA APOD Poster is built with Laravel 12 (PHP 8.2), integrating three major APIs: NASA APOD API
for astronomy content, OpenAI API for caption generation, and Facebook Graph API for posting. We
use a queue system for reliable job processing, SQLite for data storage, and implement comprehensive
error handling and retry logic.
Follow our Facebook pages (SeleneChatBot or Web Grapple) to see daily astronomy pictures in your feed.
